By now you all know I'm as ignorant as they come when it comes to motorcycles. I just knew I wanted to learn how to ride, and had to have my own to do so.
so I showed up at the Cycles USA shop kind of late on a Saturday, with my motorcycle magazine in hand (I don't remember which one) I was looking for the lightest bike I could find, as the thought of picking up anything over 400 lbs was daunting. I knew nothing about belt drives, single cylinders, back firing, or little horns, but the size of the bike fit, the price was right (they had 97's on a closeout from another dealer) it was RED, my favorite vehicle color (joins a red lexus and red blazer at my red house) (Sorry Alexander, no pink handbags for this redhead), the salesman seemed knowlegable (It turns out he is the manager and has been there 15 years or so.) and somewhat honest so I became a Savage owner before I got my license to drive it.
I think the advantage of the belt drive was the best thing about the bike for me. The maintenance of the chain drive that I've read about soundsawful.
So I'm going to put a windshield on this winter, some saddle bags of some sort, and that will be my total modifications. See you in TENN!!
